SIS STANDARD INFORMATION SHEET

The combination of travel services offered to you constitutes a package travel arrangement under Decree-Law No. 17/2018, dated March 8. Therefore, you will benefit from all EU rights applicable to package travel. JPBT, Lda (THE BOX) is fully responsible for the proper performance of the entire package. Furthermore, as required by law, THE BOX has protection in place to refund your payments and, if transportation is included in the package, to ensure your repatriation in case of insolvency.

Key rights under Decree-Law No. 17/2018 of March 8:

  • Travelers will receive all essential information about the package before signing the contract.

  • There is always at least one operator responsible for the correct execution of all travel services included in the contract.

  • Travelers have access to an emergency contact number or contact details to reach the organizer or travel agency.

  • Travelers can transfer the package to another person with reasonable advance notice and, if applicable, may incur additional costs.

  • The package price can only be increased due to specific cost increases (such as fuel prices) if this is explicitly stated in the contract and, in any case, up to 20 days before the package starts. If the price increase exceeds 8% of the package price, the traveler may cancel the contract. If the organizer reserves the right to increase the price, the traveler is entitled to a price reduction in case of a decrease in relevant costs.

  • Travelers may cancel the contract without a termination fee and receive a full refund if there is a significant change in any essential element of the package, except for the price. If, before the package starts, the operator cancels it, travelers are entitled to a refund and, if applicable, compensation.

  • Travelers may cancel the contract without a termination fee before the package starts in exceptional circumstances, such as serious safety issues at the destination that could affect the package.

  • Additionally, travelers may cancel the contract at any time before the package starts, subject to an appropriate termination fee.

  • If, after the package starts, significant elements of the package cannot be provided as agreed, suitable alternatives must be offered to the traveler at no additional cost. The traveler may cancel the package without a termination fee if the services are not performed as per the contract, this lack of conformity significantly impacts the package's execution, and the organizer fails to rectify the issue.

  • Travelers are also entitled to a price reduction and/or compensation for damages if there is non-compliance or poor execution of the travel services.

  • The organizer must provide assistance if a traveler is in difficulty.

  • If the organizer or retailer is declared insolvent, payments will be refunded. If insolvency occurs after the package starts and includes transportation, travelers are guaranteed repatriation.

THE BOX has taken out insolvency protection with the Travel and Tourism Guarantee Fund. Travelers may contact this entity or, if applicable, the competent authority (Turismo de Portugal, I.P., Rua Ivone Silva, Lote 6, 1050-124 Lisbon, Tel. 211 140 200 | Fax. 211 140 830, info@turismodeportugal.pt) if services are refused due to insolvency.
